At home with the Base Stool in Matthew and Deneille’s Barbican flat, London. Their studio apartment is an eclectic curation of items, where classic design pieces sit alongside iconic prints, eccentric finds, and charity shop gems. Matthew, Head of Creative at Paul Smith, and Deneille, a London-based fashion model, have designed a space that is as much a reflection of their creative careers as it is a practical space for daily life.

The Base Stools, scattered throughout, find their way into every corner of their home—an impromptu side table, a perch for conversation, a step stool for hard-to-reach shelves, and with bold accents of colour, have become a feature of the space.

“We often host dinner parties and are always in need of more seats, so the Base Stools are literally perfect—and our guests often comment saying how they love them,” says Deneille.
